I know the EC's are nothing special, but do these schools look about right for me?

I'd say Wes is also a reach, the ivies are highly unlikely and the rest looks good.

A quick question:

Your list seems to have large, medium and small schools. So my question is why such differenent schools, since size affects the ethos of the colleges and universities, as well as class size, whether they have TAs, etc....?

You're right...i basically assembled a list of colleges that covers the full spectrum. I'm leaning heavily towards the small liberal arts though, but i still might like a city setting. I'm just more undecided than most people. Places like BU, UMass and Penn State im using mainly as safeties anyway, as i didnt like some of the "safe" liberal arts schools (lafayette, skidmore, bucknell) as much as amherst, williams, bowdoin, and bates, which are prob at the top of my list right now.

I'm basically just trying to give myself a lot of options come April 1st, just in case i change my mind. I know it must seem weird to those who know exactly what direction they want to head in.

Okay. I understand. My humble opinion about your chances at the schools on your list:

UVA: Reach
Dartmouth: Reach
Swarthmore: Reach
Brown: Reach
Amherst: Reach
Cornell: Reach/Match (depending on the school)
Williams: Reach
Bowdoin: Reach
Mcgill: Match
Bates: Reach/Match
Tufts: Reach/Match
Wesleyan: Reach/Match
BC: Match
UMass-Amherst: Safety
PSU: Match
BU: Match/Safety

My advice is to drop a few Reach, Reach/Match schools, and add a few more Match, Match/Safety, and Safety schools. If you like smaller schools, I'd cut the large universities. I'd like to suggest a few of these to start:

Whitman: Match/Safety (liberal, though a bit rural)
Reed: Match/Safety (liberal, in Portland, OR)
Lewis & Clark: Safety (liberal, in Portland, OR)
Macalester: Match (liberal, and very international, in the Twin Cities, MN)
Oberlin: Match (liberal, and international in feel, near Cleveland, OH)
Grinnell: Match/Safety (liberal, and very accomodating to internationals, great college)
Connecticut C: Match/Safety (liberal, and in a small city about an hour from Boston)
Sarah Lawrence: Safety (liberal, has tutorials, very close to NYC)
Skidmore: Safety (liberal, in Saratoga Springs, NY)

Just my humble opinion. Hope this helps. Good luck on your apps.

PS--some small universities with less than 6,000 undergrads:
Johns Hopkins
URochester
Case Western

thanks blaineko....

Yeah i've actually heard some good things about Connecticut College from some friends, might be worth checking out as a last minute add on. And yeah i might have too many reaches, but a lot of my top picks are from that list so i guess i'll just have to try my luck.

Might want to look at Duke as a reach and Holy Cross and Colby as targets.

Thanks...yeah Colby is supposed to be pretty similar to Bates i hear.

anyone else have any input?

Trinity in CT could be another target/safety for you. Maclester and Carleton are good for you as well.

I have visited both Colby and Conn College - and with your athletic background, I think you might enjoy them a lot. Kids were out doing all sorts of games, and seemed very happy. I agree with Blaineko's assessment. If you want many options this spring, load up on matches.

bump for more imput

I must disagree with blaineko and say that Tufts is a match for you. By the way, how was being a US Open ballboy/girl? I've always imagined that that must be really really cool.

ballboying was great...was really cool to be right on court with some big names. Only thing- when i was on court with some big servers it got kindof hard to grab some of the aces coming at me. Those things can mess up your hands.

hopefully i can use ballboying as some sort of hook in my apps.
