Realistically, Do you think I will get in?

I have a dilemma on my hands!!! The problem is that I have been accepted to Cal Poly SLO for Business Administration, but my first choice in schools is UCSB. In order for me to apply for housing at SLO, I need to accept there offer by feb, 23rd the day the housing app comes out. In order for me not do this and possibly wait till mid march to here from UCSB, I will have to risk on campus housing at Cal Poly. I need your help to decide what to do based on my stats and my chance of getting into SB.

UC GPA: 3.75
SAT:1770 (650 math, 560 reading, 560 writing)
SATII: US History 610, Bio E 610
AP Scores: 5 on APUSH
ECS:200 hours of volunteer work at various places within my city. Member of my HS chess club and the Citys Teen Library Council
Courses: Very rigorous from a very highly rated public hs in so cal, 3 honors courses and 3 ap courses (2 during senior year)

Basically I need to know what percentage i have to get into UCSB, if you could help me please do

You SHOULD get in…idk i’d say like 75%

you can get your money back after you apply for housing if you decide to go to another college. Thats what I’m doing

Ive heard you can do that, but if you accept admission isnt in binding?

you cant get the deposit back.

ok so either

 1. accept to cal poly and MAYBE get the housing you want, because you are NEVER guaranteed to get the housing you want anyways. then if you get into UCSB and opt to go there, sequentially lose the (what is it? ) $100 in deposit.

or

wait till march 15th to see if you get in to ucsb. if you dont, SIR at cal poly and have a less likely, yet still a MAYBE on getting the housing that you want

just wait, it isnt worth the $100. plus many people wont be accepting until after march 15th. you think you are the only one accepted to cal poly who is still waiting on other colleges, including UC’s and out of states? nope. just wait

My daughter was also accepted a few days ago into Cal Poly Biz and is super excited but also wants to see if she gets into UCSB and also UCD (although it is really between Cal Poly and UCSB for her.) So she has the same dilemma about the housing thing at Cal Poly. We are opting to wait until she hears from UCSB. I just can’t imagine that she won’t get into one of her three choices if she does accept Cal Poly in mid-March. She has several freshman friends at Cal Poly who told her they didn’t accept last year until way later - I believe sometime in April - and they got into one of their three choices. I also called Housing and they said they make every effort to get a kid into one of their three choices no matter when they accept. Hope that helps.

yeah^ my “gf” got accepted to cp, and it was her last choice/ safety school. she didnt accept or put a bid in for housing until the deadline. she got into her first choice

You’ve got a slim chance, a chance none the less. I’d say 20% or so. All your stats are below average, except for EC. Apply for housing and just wait for UCSB’s decision! Best of luck to you

the averages that everyone is so familiar with are inflated by ELC students or other that have amazingly high gpas and sats that apply to schools like SB as safeties and almost never attend there. if the average of enrolled students were released it would be significantly lower than the chart published on the UC site, you have a really good chance at UCSB but id still apply for housing at cal poly just incase, im in the same situation as well and i plan on sending the deposit when the application opens.

We changed our minds and our daughter will also apply for housing at Cal Poly once her housing link is activated, hopefully tomorrow.

Haha yeah im going to do the same
