Alright I’ve got a 3.9 at a difficult community college. I wanna apply to some Ivies that don’t require Sat or Act. Realistically speaking is it possible to get in? Has anyone gotten in as a transfer student?
I’m pretty sure all Ivies require SAT/ACT scores?
Cornell doesn’t I’ve called them
So then it’s not some Ivies, it’s just Cornell? Also, I know I am not really qualified to speak about transfers, but doesn’t that seem like a pretty impossible leap (from a community college to Ivy)? Is there any precedent for that? You should probably ask them if anyone has successfully done that in like … oh I don’t know … ever.
Lol how is that a big leap? Yes of course it happens. I have called and asked.
I’m of the opinion that you don’t have a whole lot to lose by applying. You’ve showed that you can do college level work, so why not? Of course, I think what the person above is trying to say that maybe you should try some local universities or other colleges that aren’t notoriously hard to get into so that you have some options. I think an Ivy is a long shot, because it’s a long shot for everybody. A lot of getting in is just down to luck, and you aren’t transferring from a school that has a comparable academic program, so it’s really risky. You definitely can’t count on getting accepted.
What was your high school record like (I’m assuming they look at that)?
