Realistically, what are my chances of getting into Georgetown?

Hi everyone. I am facing a bit of a dilema. I got my SAT scores back and receieved a 2050 (700 M, 630 CR, 720 W). I want to major in International Relations and go to law school after completing that. I really love Georgetown but am skeptical whether or not my hopes of getting in are realistic or not. Here are some of my other credentials:
-4.28 GPA
-Ranked 10 out of appr. 500
-National Honor Society V.P.
-School Newspaper Assistant Editor
-Involved in FBLA, DECA, Red Cross, International Society, Girls Soccer, ACT, Spanish Honor Society, NHS, School Newspaper
-Volunteer at a soup kitchen
-Volunteer at my local church
-Graduate of Polish School
-Arts High School participant (my work also went on tour)
-Just completed Girls State
-Summer internship as a file clerk at a law firm
-bilingual; immigrant
-danced for 12 years
Should I retake the SAT for the 3rd time because of my reading score or would colleges look down upon that? Thanks :)

Good GPA, but slightly low SAT score. You should definitely retake it, but not more than 3 times. 3 times is usually the limit. it will look suspicious if it is 4 times or more. How involved are you in that list of ECs/volunteer work? I would hope that you have a few more leadership positions in there. Also, show your passion for dance! That might help you in the application process.

Being an immigrant should help you. I think you have a fair shot at Georgetown, but an even better chance if you apply early.

Pretty involved and about to get more involved in the coming year! I definitely want to do more next year. And the thing with leadership positions in my school is that it’s very hard to get them unless your brown becasue in most of the clubs, whites are a minority so it is pretty much a popularity contest. Im really hoping that my reading score will jump 70-100 points but if it doesn’t then ugh…im in trouble :/

good scores. def retake the SAT for the 3rd time but no more. consider taking the ACT as well and definitely take a few SATII subject tests.
also have you taken any AP/IBs and does your school offer them? if you have, what were your scores? and what classes have you taken in HS?
chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1358671-chance-me-cs-schools-top-schools-will-chance-back.html

Take it the third time. Also, there is score choice and if you enable it correctly no college can know previous sittings even took place! Just a tidbit.

Great GPA and rank… Try to get some more leadership positions and get your SAT CR up to 700 (if you need tips, PM me, that’s something I can actually help with…=P). I’d also send them an art supplememt, if they allow that. You could probably make your essays pretty interesting, as an immigrant hoping to go into international relations.

So in short, get more leadership positions and get that SAT up and you have a pretty good shot… Especially if your school is a known “feeder school” to Georgetown, as some are known to be. Well, best of luck!(:

I’ve taken A.P. classes (APUSH, English) and I’ve taken the exam but Im waiting on the scores! Next year, I’ll be taking A.P. Calc, A.P. Spanish, A.P. English, and A.P. Art History. Sadly, Physics isn’t labeled as one but is treated as such. I’ve taken the most rigorous schedule offered to me with all Honors and A.P.s. :)
