Reality Check: Transferring to the UC system?

Hey guys, I'm planning on applying to the UC system this fall (fall 2013). I will be applying to the following schools: UCSB, USC, UCI, UCD, UCSD, UCB, UCLA. Aiming for UCI, UCSB, and/or UCD.

My intended major is some kind of Economics (Econ/Accounting, Business Econ, Managerial Econ). Will have all prereqs complete and IGETC complete/have 60 CC units + about 15 4 year units.

I have significant ECs, and work a part time job during school if that even makes a difference.

Lastly, my GPA is currently a 3.17, and should end up between a 3.2 to 3.4 by the end of the Fall semester.

The reason my GPA is so low is because I did poorly at a 4-year that I attended for 1 semester at because I slacked off and I didn't think that GPA would be calculated into my transfer GPA...
Attended a Four Year: Fall 2013
Attending a CC: Spring 2013, Summer 2013, until present

Are my targeted schools realistic?

I can’t really say for USC…but as far as Econ goes at the schools you’ve listed, UCLA and Berkeley will be nearly impossible reaches. I’d say you have a tiny shot at UCSD. Given that you get that 3.4, you should have a decent chance to get into UCI, UCSB, or UCD.

I agree with oceanpartier. Not a real chance at Berkeley and UCLA, maybe a slim chance at UCSD but not one to get your hopes up. I would say Irvine is less likely than Davis and SB. If you do get a 3.3 GPA then you do have a very good and realistic chance at Davis and SB. All in all, you’ll definitely get into a UC for Econ as long as you hit your targeted GPA.
