really can't decide on a school...

april is halfway gone, and i still can't decide on a school, or even really narrow it down because my choices are so diverse. i can go to George Washington, NYU, University of Edinburgh, or New College of Florida. If anybody has some insight, I would really appreciate it.

It all depends on your interests, financial aid, etc...
I would pretty much narrow it down to George Washington and NYU though (if you can afford it). I have heard /meh about New college and Edinburgh.

What kind of a student are you? What are your interests?

i don't know what i want to major in, and there are so many classes that i haven't had a chance to take yet (psychology, economics, etc.) that trying to declare a major right now would just be a shot in the dark. i think that this decision would be easier if i did have a clearer idea of what i wanted for my future...

as far as interests, mine are diverse- i love art, theater, writing, and all things creative, but i am also interested in science and history too. i just like learning. i take my studies pretty seriously, though i do need time to decompress and do something just for the fun of it. in short, i need classes that are challenging and stimulating, but not to the point where all i do is study. but i have no idea which school will fulfill all of my vague stipulations the best. please help.

footnote: as far as financial aid, most of the schools above have offered me some sort of scholarship (though obviously for differing amounts.) GW has been the most generous, followed by New College, then NYU, then Edinburgh. any way i go though, it's going to mean taking out some loans.

I like the idea of New College of Florida because it seems like a school that would allow you to switch majors easily without there having school transfers like you may encounter at NYU.

that is definitely something to consider. i just don't know if i'd get the best quality of education there. thanks for giving your opinion. anyone else?

If finances aren't a huge issue, I would pick NYU, hands down. The other schools don't have nearly the same academic reputation.

I went to NYU as a transfer in my junior year. I loved NYU, but it's not for everyone. You are not getting the campus experience if that is something that is important to you. I lived in the dorm one summer and then found an apartment. So, for me, it was more like living in the city and taking classes. Everyone sort of goes their own way since the city has so much to offer. It was awesome going to the theater, indie movies, comedy clubs, concerts, art gallery openings, restaurants, bars, etc. It is a very exciting place to be.

If you don't know what you want to study, the easiest elimination is Edinburgh, which asks you to pick your concentration immediately. Are you comfortable managing your way around a big city or do you want a campus focus? The answer will tilt you either toward NYU or GW/New. I can't contribute much beyond that as I am not familiar with New.

If GWU gave you the best aid, go there.

Thanks guys for all the help! You are definitely providing insight to this very befuddling decision. I have eliminated Edinburgh due primarily to the issue that Caleno brought up. I'm visiting New College soon, but unless I'm unexpectedly blown away, I don't think I'll be going there.

I thought that I had eliminated Pitt a while ago (which is why it wasn't included in my original post), but I visited on a whim this past weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised. So my choice right now is GWU vs. NYU vs. Pitt. Any opinions on those? To answer an earlier post, being in a city isn't a problem for me.

I'd still say that GWU is probably the best choice here.
