Really confused, Calc 2 or 3?

I've done the IB curriculum, and took math at a higher level. Did pretty well in that course and am generally in at least the top 5 % in math in almost all tests/standardised tests I've taken. With my grades from IB I can get enough credits to skip Calc 1 and Calc 2, but how much of a jump is it from IB to calc 3? A person I asked who attends Michigan told me that the course is quite difficult because our curriculum misses out on some necessary topics, but I want to get some more information so that I can make the right choice. Also how good are the textbooks and how in depth do the teachers go? is it easy to follow if you keep working and practicing?

i dont know how much IB covers, but the AP calc BC doesn’t cover any of the calc 3 materials. I self studied the BC in HS, and still did very well in calc 3. Given your credentials, you should do fine in calc 3, even though its a tough course.

oh yeah the textbook is really good cuz im not too good learning from a class, so if you’re good with independent studying, the book is a plus. the course sticks to the book very well, so yes it’s easy to follow.

Thx for the info, I think I’m leaning towards calc 3, guess ill work really hard because I need an A- at the least. Trying to transfer to wharton after a year
