really good BA/BFA theatre/acting programs

Hi, this is my first post ever. I'm about to start my senior year and am looking at BA and BFA programs. I know that stage acting is what I want to do as a career but I still would like to take some classes outside of acting in college. Here are some stats

SAT-2070 (am going to retake in september and will take subject tests)
CR-720
Math-660
Writing-690

4 AP's with 5 next year and duel enrollment at local com college
GPA-3.71 weighted-4.06
ranked 38/459

I'm looking for a really good BA program with a strong focus on acting and would allow me to take other courses or a BFA acting that would allow me to get at least a partial liberal education(maybe 60-75% acting, 40-25% other)

*** I CAN NOT SING AT ALL***programs must be more focused on acting than MT

-am looking for liberal arts colleges and universities
-northeast, midwest, great lakes area, eastern and central area large city or small town near a large city, these are just preferences, am willing to go elsewhere if its a really great program

*need somewhere with decent finacial aid or merit aid(when i did the EFC calculator it said about $5,000 from my parents)

Thanks to everyone on this site, this place is awesome and has already been really helpful!

Hey guys, so now I’m a little more familiar with the site, I’ve found out alot of information on a lot of other threads, if you still want to post about colleges you think would really suit me though, that would be awesome.

How about Sarah Lawrence?

I guess I’m going to be the poster child for Adelphi for a while, but I am going to suggest that you look at it. There is a Theatre BFA, in Acting or Design, also a Theatre Minor, both auditioned. You can’t double major, but there is ample time for liberal arts, including an Honors College that provides a Great Books Foundation. Students in the Honors College have very high academic qualifications and interest, and their grad school placement is quite impressive.

Adelphi has no MT major, and although it does have great departments in Music and Dance, there is no MT performance season; the focus is on plays. There is a standard study abroad semester at LAMDA.

The BFA is difficult to get into, but has higher acceptance rates than the programs most people look at (Purchase, Michigan, CMU, BU, Minn/Guthrie, etc.). Your stats are similar to my D’s, and without filling out any forms or extra applications she was awarded a talent/merit scholarship that will cover virtually all of her tuition for 4 years.

Adelphi is about 40 minutes by train from Manhattan, on western Long Island. They do not audition at Unifieds, but they will take video auditions if necessary.

Take a look at their website. It might be a good “more likely” school for you as you build your list (can’t say safety among auditioned schools). My D wanted a BFA, but definitely preferred a school where she would have a valuable liberal arts experience.
