I REALLY want to go to this school to the point where i'm doing everything for it early (not ED but i'm just excited) I have questions

I've done a ton of research on this school and its moved up to my #1 on my college list

I spoke to somebody who went to clark and she said it was awsome. How is it? I didn't see any hippie vibe there but I heard that there was one on the campus.

not that this matters but will i be the only black kid in sight?

how is the party life?

I'm not asking questions like SAT and GPA since you guys are probably sick of seeing that stuff here and I know the expectations yada yada, but I want to know a lot about the college from people who went there, go there, or know somebody who went there and their experience

Thank you very much for reading this :D

btw why is there only one other thread on this school?

I can’t help as a current student but d and I toured Clark yesterday. Very dynamic campus, students seemed happy, many research opportunities emphasized on the tour and at the presentation. Did not catch much hippy vibe (which is probably main reason why d is NOT applying). Our tour guide was from Ghana. Hope you get a better answer soon, but maybe this is a start!

I just graduated from Clark. It is an awesome and unique place.

I wouldn’t consider it a hippy school, but I could definitely see it being one in the past.

You won’t be the only black kid in sight, but you will probably be one of the few african americans (i’m assuming thats what you are). I think there are lot more international students from africa than african americans.

There are always parties to go to on the weekends. House parties are something I took for granted and now that I have left I really miss them.

My son just started there and he loves everything about the school–the classes, the energy, the students, everything. Unlike many NE liberal arts schools, the student population is genuinely diverse and genuinely unique. Moreover, it has extremely high academic quality without the attitude that many other schools show off so insecurely. I urge you to check it out. Best of luck!

I never thought it was that diverse. It was unique though.

After coming to a much larger school, I now know what real diversity is like. For example, on my way to class everyday it is not uncommon for me to hear at least 3 different languages being spoken by people on campus. I never experienced such a thing at Clark.

My best friend’s daughter attended Clark, and received a free MA there too since she had a good GPA as an undergrad. Now she’s in law school.

I can’t answer the question about diversity since I don’t have firsthand knowledge of the school, but my friend’s D raved about her professors. She majored in history and wrote a senior thesis, had a great relationship w/ her advisor. She also had several favorite professors in other subjects. She was involved in sports and made very close friends through her team. (Though I’ve read elsewhere that Clark students aren’t really into going to sports, her experience was great nevertheless.) She felt she really grew as a person because of the supportive environment of faculty and teammates.

I just wanted to pass that on, since I don’t hear as many students rave about their schools and professors as this young woman does!
