One of my teachers who I asked for a teacher rec from (he knows me really well) was supposed to submit his rec over the break but he didn’t. I think he was out of town. So I was going to meet with him to remind him to submit on the first day back to school but I found out that he is going to be out for this entire week. Would it be too late to have him submit his rec if I waited until January 8 or 11? (I’m not sure if he’s coming back this friday or next monday). The colleges I need his rec for is for top 20 schools (stanford, mit, harvard, etc). I know they’re pretty lenient on these things usually but is Jan 11 too late?
bump… im in the same situation
How do you know he didn’t?
@XCjunior2016 you check Common App… it tells you.
Why don’t you ask someone else just in case and so you don’t have to worry about it. Then you might have an extra letter but that is no big deal.
Ideally you wouldn’t have to worry, but I switched schools my senior year and had a few teachers from my old school writing me letters of recommendation, and they got caught up in some sort of Naviance complication. Didn’t end up turning the letters in until two weeks after my deadline, but I was still accepted to my top choice. I believe there’s more wiggle room for teacher deadlines than student deadlines.

I got the recs submitted today , now I just need to send the physical letters. So is there a certain verification the colleges want on the letters? Like do I just have to have my teacher print the letter and mail it or does he need to stamp it with a school stamp and sign accross the seal or something? I messaged all my colleges at sending in additional recs, all of the ones that require me to mail it just said to mail to an address with no exact instructions.
