REALLY need some help.

So, I'm a senior in high school who got a bit of a late start on her college search. Typical, I know. But I'm feeling pretty lost, since I only know one school that I'm POSITIVE I would be happy at (Fordham at Rose Hill).
I really want all the schools I apply to to be like this, so that I am not stressed about rejection letters etc.

The things I like about Fordham are:
-urban location, but still has a nice sized campus
-size (about 6000-7000); I would go smaller, but I wouldn't wanna go bigger than 10,000
-small class sizes -- i want to KNOW my professors very well
-seems like it has a fairly impressive psychology/research program (my intended major)
-ZERO greek life :) !!!!!!!!!
-seems like it has a [relatively] diverse student body, in terms of not everyone being super preppy/stuck up

I can't find something too much like this in any other school I look at. My stats are right about on target for Fordham:
-3.5 cumulative gpa (my freshman gpa brings me down a lot, but i got a 4.0 my junior year, after moving up to some more honors classes as well)
-29 on the act, but that's expected to change since the math score kept bringing me down but I am rigorously prepping for the October one

But throw any type of schools at me that fit my preferred criteria -- whether it fits my academics or not.

Also, I live in New Jersey and my parents don't want me to go too far past Ohio -- they'd prefer me to stay in the tri-state area (ugh).

And one last thing -- I have a lot of friends at my school, but I consider myself more of the hipster-ish liberal type.. not extremely radical but I definitely don't want to be going to a school that is known for being incredibly preppy, stuck up, and conservative. I worry about that with Fordham sometimes, but judging by the people that I know who go there, it doesn't seem to be so true.

I'm sorry this is so long, but I REALLY need some help! I'm applying in less than two months and I really want to make the right choice.

How much money have your parents told you they will pay for your education?

Have they run the Net Price Calculator for Fordham? If so, can they pay what Fordham thinks they can?

Sort out the money issue with your parents, then run your interests through any of the college-matching search engines (there is a good one right here at this website), and see what they come up with for you.

Yeah trust me I’ve tried everything imaginable on the internet haha I just figured I’d make one of these posts cause maybe talking to actual people would give me a better idea of some schools.
And yes, price is a bit of an issue with Fordham, but we’re aiming to try and get some aid. If it turns out to be a true issue, even if I get in, then I guess we’ll decide in the Spring if that will prevent me from going.

Run the Net Price Calculator and have the affordability talk with your parents. From your description you probably won’t qualify for much if any aid except at highly competitive schools for which your stats are not much of a fit. A higher ACT or SAT score will help in getting some merit aid.

Yeah I know that my score will go up because of the math (I know that sounds ambitious, but trust me, with how low my score was before, there’s not doubt that it’ll go up at least 5 points) so I will probably be okay with that. But besides Fordham—right now I’m just looking for other schools that would be great fits for me, if you guys could help with that!

and by aid i meant financial aid like fafsa

Have you tried using the Supermatch college search tool here on CC? Or the College Board search tool?

Fordham did come up top when i put in your GPA, ACT, Urban School  FOrdham has 15,000 students, 8000 undergraduates

Try looking in PA as well.

I feel from your posts like you don’t know what the Net Price Calculator is. Go to the financial aid website page for Fordham and look for a link to the calculator. Have your parents help put in their financial information, and it will tell you what you likely would be expected to pay at Fordham and what your financial aid package is likely to look like. FAFSA does not give you aid, it is just a form you fill out to figure out if you are eligible for federal grants (you likely aren’t) and federal loans. You need to go run the Net Price Calculator ASAP to see what Fordham is likely to cost you. You can’t just hope for financial aid, and you don’t have to any more with these calculators each college is required to provide.

For full disclosure my S went to Fordham Rose Hill and loved it. You might also want to look into St. Joes, Loyola MD, UScranton, (many of the Jesuit schools just happen to to fit that mid-size university in an urban area description) as well as possibly SUNY New Paltz (which has good OOS rates but isn’t urban),

Also @bobber‌ while your stats are correct regarding the number of undergraduates at Fordham it is important to recognize that the total number of undergraduate students is split between two campuses with Rose Hill having about 5700 undergraduates and the Lincoln Center campus having about 2,000 undergraduates (numbers are approximate). If you are on the RH campus you mainly interact with other RH undergraduates.
