Thanks in Advance

Well there are numerous colleges out there with Mech. engineering, but i would recommend MIT, Stanford and Cornell. I’m not quite familiar with your CBSE grades, they seem quite low, but definitely give it a try, your SATs and ECs will hopefully make up for it. good luck.

Uh…desi_chick…I dont know what you’re talking about. I think his chances are really slim at MIT/Stanford/Cornell with the GPA and SAT score combo above. Granted I dont really know how to convert the %s he gave to a nomal 4.0 scale, but colleges are going to look at the 59% and wonder what happened. The ECs arent outstanding either, so I highly doubt he would get in at any of those 3 listed above.
And most schools are need-blind, which means that your decision to apply for finanical aid (or not) isnt looked at in the admissions process.
Look at some of the UC schools, I think you’d have a fairly good shot at those, as well as maybe some state universities, depending on which state you’d like to go to college in. The Ivies/Stanford/MIT/Caltech are definitely going to be reaches.

Fuzzy is mistaken. Almost all schools are need blind for DOMESTIC students. When you are applying as an international your decision to apply for aid will heavily influence their decision.

If you can afford it, I would NOT apply for aid as it would most likely serve as a hindrance to admission.

^not true. lots of schools simply can’t afford tp be need-blind, even for domestics.

If those grades translate to anything resembling what they do in US, you stand no chance at those schools, and your SATs aren’t competitive there, either. I don’t think you’re competitive at any top US university, and I’m not sure many US state universities will open up for you, either.
