Hi all! As you already know, I am a junior in a decent/average high school. I am thinking of majoring in political sciences. My GPA is 3.63 unweighted (3.81 weighted). I have solid extracurricular activities:

SAT: 1820 out of 2400

Colleges:

Fordham
Iona
Hofstra
Clark University
St. Lawrence
Elon
Drexel
Temple
Syracuse
University of Vermont
University of Delaware

I think that your combination of EC’s and grades will definately get you into any these schools. I am also a future political science major. I think you might want to do more extracurriculars that relate to your major (only if your sure that this is what you want).
Is there any one that you really want to go to the most?

I think you have a great chance at all of these schools because of your activities and commitment. Good essays should be a huge impact also! Good Luck =]

Thanks so much for the advice and feedback. I really appreciate your help. I was thinking of joining model UN at my high school, but wasn’t sure if it would be too much. Any suggestions considering my intended major?

P.S. Please keep the feedback coming. It has been very helpful.

Those all seem like pretty good matches. My sister had similar grades (a bit higher, but whatever), and a similar equivalence of ECs. She applied to some of those schools, and got into every single one of them. (She is now in the Syracuse Bandier Program for music business). As long as your recs and essays are good, you have a pretty great shot at any of those.

In fact, I’d say Hofstra (at least, because I don’t know some of the others as well) is a safety.

Thanks for your input. In fact, I have not done any research on Hofstra (my mom suggested it). So, it is nice to know that the college is at my academic level. Thank you very much. I am really grateful.

Everybody please keep your opinions/feedback coming.

I think your chances are pretty good at all of the schools on your list. Your grades and EC’s are pretty much typical for the average or maybe even a little above average student at most of these schools. Good luck!

I think you’ve got a pretty good chance of getting in any of these. My best friend had a lower gpa than you, and a lot less ECs than you, and he got into university of Vermont, with a 10,000 scholarship per year. So your probably good, maybe raise your SATs a little

I think you’re in great shape for the most part. Maybe raise the SAT up a little and at least have something to write about in your essays with regards to leadership

I think you are good. No need to freak out. You should be fine in applying to those schools. In fact, I wish I had that many EC’s! But I’m not the college admissions fairy, so that’s all I got. Good luck in the application process!
