2000 SAT
30 ACT
Planning on taking Subject Tests come October and retaking ACT's to see if I can break 32+

I have impressive ec's and played tennis throughout high school.

Won 10+ awards with top 10 Model Un team and am currently an officer

Plenty of Extra Curriculars and Leadership positions throughout them.

I really got distracted throughout high school and by the time it mattered it was senior year.

Looking at straight A's first semester and first marking period both are sent by my school.

Help please I can't imagine my fate, I am high achieving and that comes out in my essays its just that I was not as serious as I should have been and I regret it immensely.

You have plenty of time to recover so relax. You are far from lost with those stats.

You are correct that retaking the tests is your best bet right now. A high test score will go a long way toward making your case. Keep in mind though that colleges see grades as better predictors than scores.

You need to get in touch with the IU admissions rep for your school/area. Contact with that person matters as they are the one that initially throws your app in a pile for further consideration. You’d be amazed how much difference DESIRE makes to an admissions officer. Talk to them.

Yours is the case where 1 or 2 (not more) teacher recommendations might also make a difference if they were the ones that saw you truly apply yourself.

I see from a prior post you have lots of AP and honors classes. That’s good.

Reach out to IU admissions and make your case!

Don’t lose hope. Worst case scenario is a year at community college getting straight A’s and then transfer.

BTW: Pasting the same post to other school forums like U of Illinois is frowned upon. Do your homework on the schools you really like and ask specific questions. Otherwise just post this in the generic Chance Me forum.

Yeah that is something that I can’t consider given my personal circumstances. My parents would rather me not go to college than do that. It is unfortunate

Obviously your GPA is at the lower end of IU’s acceptance pool. However, your test scores are well above the average (depending on your intended major/program). I think that if you have good EC’s, essay, and keep up those scores you should be fine. Good luck!

Same as nico - I graduated high school with around a 2.6 and transferred to IU after my freshman year. Graduating Kelley next year 3.5+. Take a breath, life goes on, success does not come from high school GPAs.
