i reallly really wanna join the swim team in the UMN i have trained swiming for over 8 years so i wanted to know after i go there do i just try out or there is an application to fill or what please help thankyou:D

Most, if not all members of the swim team are recruited athletes from high school. If you think you could be a walk-on (i.e. no scholarship) check the times from the swim team meets to see if your times are in the ballpark.

Here is the form for showing interest to the swimming coaches. Typically this is done your junior year in high school. Like Denquist said, these are recruited athletes, but there might be a chance for walk on tryouts. You should email the coach.

I found this by looking under athletics and then clicked on the specific sport.

Here is the boys form: [Men’s Swimming Recruiting Form - Gophersports.com - Official Web Site of University of Minnesota Athletics](http://www.gophersports.com/quest/Questionaire.dbml?DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=8400&SPSID=38570&SPID=3275&QID=948)

i know i dont have a chance now to get into the swimming team cause am late and cause am international i would be hard to contact coaches i have already been acceptd to UMN and i really wanted to join the swimming team is there any way to be recruited after your freshaman year if u traine there or smthing?

I’m sure you can try out whenever they hold tryouts. But compare your times to theirs, the last thing you wanna do is act like your good and then get embarrassed. Whenever I was visiting places for soccer, the coaches always said that they would take maybe one walk on, it’ll be around the same for swimming probably.

You could always join the water polo club team. They travel and are always looking for great swimmers.

[University of Minnesota Water Polo](http://www.tc.umn.edu/~wpolo/)

yeah the water polo is an official sport club so that would be legit and fun

is it easier than the swimming team?

Cracker1 - it is a CLUB team which means it is organized by the team members not by the University. This can mean that some or all of the expenses are paid by the team. If you enjoy water polo, why don’t you send them an email.
