Really weird essay? Or has potential?

As a sophomore, I started the Young Republicans club at my school as someone who was quite liberal and had democratic parents as well (not for the “LOL,” but for actual reasons and tons of learning experience). Would incorporating this into an essay be pretty boring, or does it have potential?

That has potential. It’s pretty topical, but also could be a little touchy subject for whomever is reading it at the college you apply to. I think it could definitely be something to make you stand out a little (in a good way)!

Why don’t you come up with a list of essay topics, like 10 ideas, and then rank them from what you think is the best to the worst, and see where this idea ends up at. Start writing ones from the top, and if they don’t work out then move on to the next one.

Going to be blunt. Most admissions officers are going to lean liberal. I’d stay away from that topic.

I think the main issue will be explaining this in an intelligent way.

You need to learn what the target schools care about.

I think your resume probably already covers this.

The point behind the essay is to talk about WHO you are, not what you’ve accomplished.
