I was told at the spend a summer day program that PSU doesn't want letters of reccommendation for regular admissions. the woman said that even if they get them they throw them out or disregard them because they just have too many applicants to read them all and they don't want to be unfair to anyone either.
but i've heard some people saying they sent them in. was I given the wrong info??

No you were not. PSU has way to many applicants to take the time to read these extra letters. Letters of Rec are only required as part of the Schreyer Honors College Application. This application requires a min of 3 letters and a max of 5 or 6 if I can remember right.

My son's guidance counselor said the same thing.

It is true, indeed. Same reason they don't want full essays.

Each person is probably going through a hundred or so, or even more, applications everyday. No one wants to read a book everyday.

okay good i was just making sure because there are people who applied regular and sent them in. im guessing if they get them they probably just throw them away
