Well I think it depend on how many scholarships you won for you to report it. If you win more than 2, it would be at least right to report at least one. If the scholarship is sent to the school, then your efan would change anyway so might as well report it. I remember someone in CC mentioned that they didnt submit their efan and it turn out fine…but i wont risk it. Instead I wonder if there is a deadline for it.

If I actually helped someone, then I wouldnt mind it that much. But somehow I dont feel like that’s the case. I mean they sent out the efan, meaning that they figure out how much they are planning to give out, so likely the students already or about to take the loans. Instead I feel like they would not give it out w/ the budget cut and recession right now.

Plus, I applied for 35+ scholarships (16 of them are a local scholarship and we’re only allow to win one). I spent a lot of time on them even more than my projects or homeworks. I also spent over $100 (from making copies, senting it, gas, official transcripts, ect.) It’s like getting a job and when payday comes, the gov decides to take your check away. Sorry for the extra ranting but I just want you to know where I’m coming from.

^ yeah I understand where you’re coming from. I’m just trying to make something positive out of it…hopefully they’ll make the funds they took from you because of your scholarships available to another student who needs the money. But you may be right, they may just keep it to save money because of the budget cuts.

yeah, I reported and they took away my work-study money. and cut into my SUBSIDIZED loan. I don’t think not reporting it will make anything any better for you, especially these days. They will cut other money from your package. I wouldn’t recommend denying the plus loan; you may need the money.

Has everyone received their efan already? I don’t think I’ve received mine yet.

Thanks for the replies. That really sucks because it’s like scholarships didn’t help at all. :(

Btw, does anyone know if the efan total is final? What if we’re living in a suite instead of a hall…because it looks like the efan gives aid needed for living in a triple hall? Are we supposed to just come up with the extra money ourselves?

do not report scholarships!!!

ucla will not find out if the scholarship is given to you directly unless they are notified by either you or the scholarship sponsor. the ucla financial aid office will automatically adjust your financial aid package if they receive any scholarship and they will generate a new efan for you. you won’t get in trouble.

Thanks Grassbandit!
So would you suggest accepting the PLUS loan now or later? -_- so many q’s sorry!
And what if we’re living in a suite?..the total doesnt seem up to add up to the total of living in a suite.

what total are you talking about?

i don’t know about the PLUS loan, i better let someone else answer that

the total for undergraduate is made out to $26,610- with room and board being $13,314. But I got assigned a single -_- which means my room and board is around 15k. I was wondering if the efan would take it into consideration and add more aid, which I’m assuming is a no lol

Oh I see.
Thanks, just what I was looking for! :)
