received a D in 1st semester... possible transfer still?

Ive given myself a semester at the University of San Diego and have concluded the following:

1) not happy with the college... decent teachers, but im starting to dislike the environment... everyones so concerned with self image... just my personal opinion...
2) i did find decent people... but its not enough to conquer the uneasiness i feel with the college.
3) i am greatful that my parents are paying for my college, but i feel its better that i go elsewhere MUCH cheaper... id feel less guilty that way even if they tell me not to worry about the cost.
4) i received a D in my biology class... the rest of my grades are mediocre... C in Gen Chem, B+ in Chem Lab, B+ in english comp and lit, and a C in my calc class.

my hs gpa was a 3.94 weighted and a 1790 SAT...

do i have a shot at transferring out of this college into maybe UC Davis, Irvine, or Santa Barbara?

if not... what options do i have...?

You can always go to a CCC and do TAG (Transfer Admission Guarantee) with Davis, SB, or Irvine.

<a href="http://www.uctransfer.org/pdf/tag_matrix_and_form.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.uctransfer.org/pdf/tag_matrix_and_form.pdf</a></p>

get outa there and go to CCC where you can actually meet decent people. Get good grades and transfer....totally worth a shot

USD= University of Spoiled Daughters

I imagine it's going to be a weird transition going from an upscale private to a community college, but thats what you gotta do.

thanks for the advice and info. it seems like my only way out is by going to a CCC and then going into a UC. Are there any other options than going to a CCC to transfer into a UC? i was kinda hoping i could directly transfer from usd to a UC? ive been looking into a 4year to another 4 year college transfer but have been unsuccessful with my internet searches... ill keep researching though.

your advice and info is greatly appreciated!

It's possible to transfer from one UC to another, but it's probably a lot harder to do so because most transfer admissions put priority on the CCC students who want to transfer.

First off, it's fairly hard to transfer form a private school to a UC.

Secondly...so you had a 3.94 going into USD and then you get about a 2.3 (?) after you get there? Sound like you may have been very unprepared for the strong academic environment. You may want to go to a CC for a semester or two to get your feet back under you. If you transfer to another strong school like UCSB or Davis right from USD, what makes you think that your grades will change?
