Son was admitted to his safety yesterday.

My DS friend received the good news from both Iowa State and Kansas.

Great news! Please post these acceptances on the "College Class of 2013 Acceptances" thread.

BTW-My freshman is loving the U of Kansas.

my-3-sons, are you from NH, and if so, did your freshman feel comfortable right away?

We have been in NH for 9 years and prior to that, NJ natives. This is my most reserved one so we were a little concerned with him being an OOS student at a large state school in another part of the country, but it has turned out to be a great fit. My S absolutely loved the relaxed, open vibe of the big midwest schools and felt very "at home" right from the start. His other favs were Mizzou and Oklahoma.

Early on we asked him if he had met any nice, friendly people yet and his response was, "Mom, everyone here is nice and friendly." Lawrence is a great bustling college town that is very supportive of KU and its students. He loves that true sense of community and feels that everyone has been very welcoming.

^^ Good to know! I am glad that it has all worked out for him!

my-3--can I ask you what got your boy thinking about those schools? I just got my oldest settled into an Ohio LAC that I think will be a good fit, but my next is a hs junior and a very different kid--quite shy, without a particular academic interest. When I ask him where he might like to go he can only say, "Someplace people have heard of."

(Sorry for the hijack, but I really don't even know where to start with #2.)
