sorry but what are RAs???

fisch2332, I believe Vista is acceptable. As long as it isn't like Windows 95 or something like that he should be fine.

And achang1990, an RA is a "Resident Advisor." Most colleges have them. They are upperclassmen who live in the dorms, usually there is one on every floor. They are trained to help new students with college life, and to keep the peace on their floor.

thankx and what is greek life??? i've heard the term so many times, but never understand what it is?

Greek life refers to fraternities and sororities. Because frats and sororities use Greek letters in their names, members are often called "Greeks" and their activities are "Greek life."

I see, and Pat, do u know if U of Pittsburgh offers a 0-6 year pharmacy program where they admit students right out of high school?? People have been telling me it does, but I just checked, it's not on the AACP list...so i'm confused!

Nope. Pitt has a 2+4 pharmacy program. However, they have something called "conditional admission" for a limited number of students. You need to meet certain high school criteria and also maintain specified standards in the two preprofessional years. Apparently, early application is critical if you wish to be considered for this.

hey pat, i got into Lothrop Hal.. anything you know about it or any comments?

There's not too much I can say that they don't already say on the website:
http://www.pc.pitt.edu/housing/halls/lothrop.html

It's in a great location; you'll be near most of your classes and also the athletic facilities on upper campus. There is a lounge on every floor, a fitness center, laundry room, mail center, and e-mail kiosks in the lobby.

Hi fisch2332, How'd you find out that you are in Lothrop Hall? I thought housing wasn't going to be out until the first we weeks of July. My D is wanting to be in Lothrop fro the nursing LLC.

Its online on the pitt email.. go to your pitt email, go under my communities to panther central.. then go to e-housing on the right.. click on the blue botton and u will find out.. im sure she got into lothrop,.. hopefully it will be a nice dorm

Thanks fisch2332! We figured it out and she's in Lothrop, too. She must have made it into the nursing LLC since she is on the 13th floor which is where it is located. We actually saw a room on the 13th floor and they are roomier than the Towers. No air conditioning, but the girl that lived there said it wasn't too bad without it. She really liked living there and was going to live there again in the fall. It's also a great location if you are in anything medically related.

well, unfortunately im an econ major, but i dont mind the little extra walk.. good exersize.. and this way i can make friends with the econ and business people, along with the med people, so its all good.. and lothrop will be great im sure, who needs AC anyways

Bring a fan for the first few weeks.

Yeah, the only time no AC will affect you will be September and April.

I think the Towers have a/c, right?

Yes, the Towers do.

Doesn't matter. I haven't used the AC after September...and April isn't hot enough to warrant it. Go for Lothrop if you can. It is a superior option.

Hey, Iloveagoodbrew, what is your opinion of Forbes? The interior looks nice - but it does seem a bit far, and not having any dining service available in the dorm also seems to be inconvenient.... Do the students use the Pitt shuttle buses to get around more easily, especially in bad weather???

^I know one or two people from Forbes. They said the rooms are good size. Most people I have seen using campus buses are the ones who go up the hill (Sutherland, Peterson dining/athletics) or going down near Forbes, etc...Personally, I have never rode the shuttle, and I have not found the weather to be too problematic either. The closest dining will be Edy's/Towers...I can see how this might be a problem for breakfast. I suggest eating breakfast in your dorm, and then stopping by for lunch/dinner..and you can pick up stuff then too. I would heartily recommend Forbes over Towers. It simply has too many problems.
