Hi, I'm an applicant to Wellesley College and I think I have a decent chance of getting in (got the grades, ACT, visit and interview went great).

I'm in the National Forensics League and I won 2nd place in Original Oratory out of 6 at my latest meet, also I got 7th out of 14 in Radio.

On top of that, I participated in the We the People competition, and although my school didn't win we got an invitation to participate in the national competition in DC (provided we can raise the funds needed, which is about 10k bleh).

I was wondering if I should tell this to the Wellesley office of admissions since it's my top school and I want to make myself look really strong. In the email I could also throw in how much I love Wellesley if it isn't too brownnosey. Thoughts?

Yes, absolutely! My kid emailed admissions offices in early February last year with some things she had won/done well in since the apps went in. She got in everyplace, so it clearly didn’t hurt her.

Something like:

Dear Wellesley Admissions,

I wanted to make you aware of some recent accomplishments after I submitted my application for regular decision admission. They include:

blah, blah

blah, blah

blah, blah

Wellesley is my top choice school <but only="" say="" this="" if="" it="" really="" is!="">, and I hope you will consider this information during the admission process.</but>

Thanks!
boxofcereals <but obviously="" put="" your="" full="" name,="" and="" if="" you="" have="" some="" kind="" of="" number="" they="" assigned="" in="" the="" admissions="" process="" on="" their="" portal="" or="" something,="" that="" underneath="" name=""></but>

Send this to ALL of your schools. But of course don’t tell them they are all your top school. You want as many choices as possible in the spring, and the info might help with merit aid as well.

I agree with intparent, but I would suggest leaving out the NFL stuff. Lots of us are in NFL (speaking as someone who was admitted and knows other admitted students who are in NFL), and specific Varsity speech tournament wins aren’t that impressive or outstanding compared to the wide pool of accomplishments (not that it’s not a great accomplishment, just that tons of people participate in it ). If you place highly at state, sectionals, or nationals, that might be something to tell them. Good luck and I really hope to see you this coming fall!!! and go speechies!
