Recognition for music/art experience: solo vs. school?

Hey everyone :)
So, quick question... (background: 3.9 unweighted, junior, asian, 2110 SAT, very passionate about what I do, hoping for stanford, berkeley, and cal poly in order of choice)

I know it's typical for (asian) students to take orchestra, band, guard, etc. to seem well-rounded in the arts/music, and just because everyone else does it.

I took music electives all three years in middle school (band-choir-choir), have been playing piano since 2nd grade, and am active in choir/band at my church, but haven't taken such a course in high school. I'm a pretty creative guy in general though. I don't take lessons anymore on piano, but do some improv, play on my church's worship band, and do music production (electronica). I can draw and do graphic design as well -- again, as a personal hobby.

Next year I am debating on some arts elective (F credit), but am indecisive between Photo and Band (I play flute too). Photo is interesting to me, and photography would add one more tool to my arsenal of expression, but my fear is that it might not appeal to colleges as much as band which is more typical (and institutionally recognized?). Of course, it would be my first year either way, so if that's not prestigious enough...

Your thoughts? What do colleges look for in terms of artistic achievement/passion?

p.s. I know Stanford has an art supplement where I can submit the best of my work for review... does anyone know how much weight that has on admission?

buumpp… Please? I need to know asap; schedules are final tomorrow.
