Recomendation/ procedure questions for johns hopkins

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not AP computer science class counts as an academic class, becuase i really want to ask my computer science teacher for a recomendation but johns hopkins, and majority of other universities, say in their sites that they need recomendations from an academic teacher, and they define an academic class as math, science... but in some high schools computer science counts as a science class and in other schools it just counts as an elective. I searched throughout all the foroums, and website but i could not find this out anywhere. Also is Intro To Engineering design H considered an math/science class and hence an acadmic class. also is the recalculated johns hopkins gpa takes account into computer science classes and project lead the way classes( intro to design honors..).
thanks

If the class is offered at your high school, it is deemed an academic class and you can get a LOR from your teacher. Colleges don’t really care who your LOR is from. They care about that person’s relationship with you and what he can say about you as a student and person.

I don’t understand your second question but I can tell you JHU (like most other colleges) have a gpa grading system as follows: A+ and A = 4.0 … A- = 3.7…B+ = 3.3… B = 3.0… B- = 2.7… and so on
