recomendation teacher dead!

Hello college confidential board
I took a gap year and left everything ready to apply, i had only to adjust minor things.
I had a letter of recommendation but the teacher deceased. And the teacher who wrote the other recommendation letter left the school with other 3 teachers (due to system fear/payment) what do i do now. I might be able to locate the other teacher through a friend of a friend but what about the otherone?

Hmmmm… I wonder if there is a more insensitive title to a thread here on CC?

The only thing worse, T26E4, is that your post made me cry I laughed so hard.

thanks for that one dudes. I know it might be insensitive im desperate trying to reach on the phone the other teacher.
I wasnt close to my teachers except for one of them and the other one pitty me i guess.

Ive been thinking on asking the principal for a recommendation but we werent close and he doesnt have a good impression of me so he wont say much.

LOL, T26E4!! Way to turn the sad situation into a serious guffaw!!!

On a serious note to the OP, maybe someone at the HS has a way to contact the deceased teacher’s relative, who might have access to his/her computer or files. Does the school not keep copies of the LOR’s in a students file? That file should still be available, though it might be in storage at the county school administration facility or something. That, or go back to school and see what teachers are still there.

What did you do during your gap year? Can you get LOR’s from someone you worked with/for during this past year? Surely there are ways around this situation. Students who are home-schooled get LORs from someone-- you should be able to handle this.

…and they say that kids these days are not self-absorbed…

to the OP: the teachers that have left will still write recommendations; someone at your school will have contact info for them…

What is LORs? Im not in america guys.my grades are definately in a file, so background and rank would be covered but what with the evaluation? i might be able to find the other teacher im praying on it. what if i give the school number for contact?

Letters of recommendation.

You need to get a recommendation from another teacher. Sheesh. If you can track down the teacher who changed schools, you may still be able to get a recc from that teacher.

And, I agree that your thread title sounds very self absorbed.

sorry if i sound self absorbed, i am not. this teacher who is in heaven supporting me, was my favourite and only real teacher ever

the thing is that this teacher wrote the recommendation letter because i was suppoused to apply last year. I HAVE IT but how will the people from admissions talk to him if he is no longer with us. So should i give the school’s number as contact? I also have the other teacher’s evaluation but he is no longer available on the number he provided.

OK, OK, serious advice.

I’d be thinking of who else could write you a LOR and then I would – with appropriate tack – put in the add’l info section of the Common App that one teacher LOR was unavailable and explain the circumstance.

It sounds like both LORs have already been written, in which case they should be in your file and easily sent now.
If you are starting over, what have done during your gap year that might yield a new LOR?

Well, you want to go to college where presumably you hope to meet some more teachers who will be “real.” Find somebody else who knows something about you from other parts of your life—have you ever volunteered for anything? Tutored younger children? Active in any kind of organization such as a church or civic association?

Thankyou, my brother went through a tough situation and needed my support so i stayed with him and forgot and erased everything else, I dont think I need a new LOR however they ask on the evaluations to write their telephone and emails i guess to confirm what they wrote, so Im freaking out cos there wont be a way to do so if one is no longer with us and the other one is missing. Is like having nothing.
I was active in local sports.

And fyi, with real i meant a teahcer who understood me a teacher who talked to me and understood me and instead of judging, supported me

Why don’t you do the logical thing and put a note saying the writer is now deceased and for any questions, please contact Counselor or Principal instead?
