recommend a really blarring loud alarm clock that wakes the dead?

my friend has this one called the “sonic boom” alarm clock, its absurdly loud and vibrates… if that doesn’t wake you up, nothing will. You can find it on amazon.com

It sounds weird, but I recommend looking into alarm clocks for the deaf. I am deaf myself and have one that you put under a pillow and vibrates… It’s like waking up to an earthquake. I believe there is a clock called the Sonic Bomb that is extremely loud and vibrates your bed. I believe it was created for people with severe hearing loss and can get up into 80 or 90 decibels. I’d link to it, but it’s too hard from my phone. Google it!

There is also one that jumps off the table and rolls around the room so you have to catch it to shut it off. I think it’s called “Clocky”. I’m hard of hearing and I’ve found that the best alarm I’ve ever had is my cell phone set on a rather jarring ringtone as loud as it will go. For me it works better than traditional alarm clocks ever did. I also have to get up and press the right spot on the keypad to shut it off so I have to be out of bed. That’s an important part of the equation.

If you have an iPhone the Sci Fi alarm is high pitched and loud enough to wake up a heavy sleeper like myself.

I used my cell phone and set the ringer was a rooster. Not only was it loud but it was annoying as all hell. I agree with the above about cell phones vs traditional alarm. My cell wakes me up better than any alarm clock and I had one that played songs from Grease.

I don’t know exactly what it’s called, but I have a Sony ‘iHome’ type thing. The ‘alarm’ sound can be set insanely loud and is really annoying. When it’s on its loudest setting, I can hear it from down the street.

I’m a big fan of the Sonic Boom alarm clock. I don’t even use the noise part since it’s such a piercing noise it makes my heart skip a beat every time it goes off (you can actually modify the tone and volume, but either way it’s enough to give you a heart attack). The vibrating part is really what works well since it’s really quiet to anyone else in the room, but it’s sure to wake you up. If you really have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning you can even buy an extension cable for the clock. That way you can set the Off button outside well outside of your reach, so you’ll be forced to get out of bed to turn it off.

I can’t wake up to traditional alarm clocks either… Try a cheap old CD alarm clock and put in the heaviest music you enjoy, full volume. That way it’ll be sure to wake you up. You won’t want to turn it off if you really like the music, and if it’s hard rock/metal, dubstep, hardcore punk, aggressive rap, whatever, you’re not likely to fall back asleep listening to it. It’ll also probably allow you to wake up in a better mood than if you were to wake up to a “sonic boom” or annoying phone alarm settings.

I prefer the old CD clocks to the iHome ones cause apps aren’t that reliable sometimes and most of them only allow you to set one song as your alarm, which doesn’t give me enough time to really wake up unless it’s the longest song in my library or something. The CD ones may be clunky, but at least they’ll always go off and you’ll have a good 12 songs or so to be sure you’re out of bed and ready to leave.

Oh I know how you feel. I become immune to alarm clocks after a few uses. Instead I use vibrating alarm clocks. My cell phone vibrates along with playing a tune; I put it under my pillow and it wakes me up perfectly.

They make actual pillow alarm clocks, too, that vibrate.

If you have a roomate is it rude to have a super loud alarm clock? it takes a lot to wake me up but i don’t want to be disrespectful.

I had this “Clocky” alarm…it really works best for the sleepy ones!! Go for it…

Be careful as not to be rude to your roommate. I would discuss it with them first.
