Hey guys.
I plan to double major in applied mathematics + something else (either stats, econ, or physics)
I want to become an actuary or something of that sort.

Heres some info :
SAT Scores : Critical Reading 610 Math 760 Writing 780. This summer I will work to get my critical reading to at least a 700. Retaking in October.
SAT II Scores : Took Math I/II on the June 2009 test date. Will take physics next year.
AP Exams : AP US Took in May 2009. Will take BC Calc next year. Couldn't take other APs since they conflicted with my schedule.
GPA : 98.5/100

I have tons of community service/ EC's, etc.

Do you guys have any schools in the Northeast that you would recommend for me?

I currently have on my list :

Columbia (Reach)
UPenn (Reach)
NYU (Match- Not Wharton)
St. Johns (Safety)
CUNY Hunter Macaulay Honors (Safety)

are you a NY resident? If so, then maybe one of the SUNY’s (like Geneseo) would be better than St. John’s for a safety school

Yes I live in NY.
Is that due to the cost of Geneso and that it is superior to St. Johns?

yeah definitely, SUNY-Geneseo is a really good school (better than St. John’s the majority of people will say) and it also costs less.

University of Rochester

Wharton is at upenn not nyu.

^lol yeah I think he/she means Stern. You seem like you’d fit well at NYU. The programs you’re interested in are very strong here, particularly applied mathematics and economics. Just get the Critical Reading score up and I’d say you’d have a solid chance of getting in. As safeties in NY, I’d say Binghamton and Geneseo (I’m from NY and they were my safeties lol).

Binghamton for sure

the undergrad atmospheres at Columbia, Penn, and NYU are all very different from one another. Which one is your ideal? That’s as good a point as any from which to start looking for similar schools.

Take a look at the Patriot League of colleges. Each around 3000 students with nice campuses and highly regarded academics coupled with NCAA Division 1 sports. [The Patriot League - Official Athletic Site](http://www.patriotleague.org/)

Thanks for the advice everyone.
Any others?
