Recommend some books for me!

I'm going on "vacation" soon to a dreadful place without internet access or TV. This place is my grandparent's home :( Therefore, I'm going to try to read a bit to pass the time.

Anyway, I'm looking for nonfiction books. Topics I enjoy are psychology, sociology, physics, math, philosophy, and even a little religion. Examples of the types of books I'm looking for are Malcolm Gladwell's books and Jonah Lehrer's books, so please don't give me the titles of textbooks :)

Thanks for any recommendations you can provide.

I picked up a copy of Plato’s Republic yesterday. Definitely worth the read.

If you picked it up yesterday, did you also finish it? It’s nice and logical, but the premise is really faulty. And if you don’t like something that reads just like a logical procession, it’ll be weird.

Are you insinuating that my veins are in fact not flowing with silver?

I hear Harry Potter and the Socks of Poor Judgment is good.

Guns, Germs, And Steel!

^ That’s got to be a joke…

Gödel’s Proof

I would recommend some Nietzsche. Try “The Antichrist”, it was a good read.

How about Junky by William Burroughs

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson

A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess

^I was discussing that book (actually, the book vs. the movie) at an ice cream parlor today. I feel like several mothers were upset with me.

world guinness book of records…?

How about farenheit 451? Catcher in the Rye? 13 reasons why?

or just pick up some Dan Brown books. like angels & demons or the Da Vinci code.

Just make a trip to Barnes and noble… should making choosing easier for you.

-sorry this is coming from a person that reads anthropology stuff, national geographic, autobiographies, stuff about other cultures and histories for fun…im not a very big fan of reading non-fiction :frowning: and you’re also a guy so you might not like the stuff i’d suggest anyway :D

on the road by jack kerouac, wise blood by flannery o’connor

my two favorite books (currently)

ovid’s metamorphoses ----amazingly entertaining + some Theogony by Hesiod, mythology is a whole other world, super fun! :D

The Triumphal Chariot of Alchemy - Basilius Valentinus
