recommend songs to me

I've been wanting to get some new songs for my Ipod for a while. I use Pandora (google it) to find stuff and it works pretty well. Two of my favorite bands are Franz Ferdinand and The Offspring. I listen to a lot of rock/alt rock, and I tried listening to current samples on iTunes but I couldn't find any that are really good. Does anyone have suggestions for current songs I might like?

so you're looking for rock only, or do you want other random stuff? i'm not a rock elitist, and i listen to a lot of whats on the radio or what my rock worshipping friends listen to. i love 90's rock. i like chevelle for some reason...although they're a little harder than most alternative stuff. red hot chili peppers are good. as far as the new stuff goes i can't really get into the punk/emo stuff. i just can't stant how a lot of them can't sing...or pronounce their words correctly.

sorry not much help in the rock dept. do like other stuff?

If you like Franz Ferdinand then may I recommend The Bravery, personal favorite is Unconditional.

hmm..Franz Ferdinand goes good with the Cribs, Arcitc Monkeys, the Strokes...other young English bands

Snow Patrol, OAR, and 80s stuff

Yeah, I like most other stuff too. I generally don't like rap except for a few songs. Eminem's Lose Yourself is alright, and Without Me is one that I really like. I'll try whatever you all can recommend because I haven't been listening to the radio, and I'm out of touch with current hits.

The All American Rejects, Panic at the disco, fall out boy, Teddy Geiger, Sean Paul, Daniel Powter, The Fray, Nickelback

I second The Fray. Fall Out Boy pretty much sucks. Panic! At the Disco is similar, but a lot better. Strangely, I love Sean Paul.

As for "good" rap music, try Brittish rap. Lady Sovereign and M.I.A.

Rock: The Cure, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The New Pornographers, Morningwood, Louis XIV, Hot Hot Heat.

Alternative (my specialty): Keane, The Shins, Iron & Wine, Death Cab For Cutie, Sufjan Stevens, Elliott Smith, HelloGoodbye, OK Go, Interpol.

Let me know if you want song recommendations or more.

Ooh yeah, Galang is a really good song by M.I.A. :D

Yay for Elliot Smith

The Manic Street Preachers are pretty good...different, but good. (4st 7lbs, The Everlasting, Faster, Revol, and Forever Delayed are my favorites by them)

Muse is great.

Um...if you aren't familiar with Our Lady Peace (my favorite band along with RHCP), you should give them a listen...their older stuff is best, but it's all good.

Sublime is good, too. (Santeria and What I Got are my favorites, but most of their music is good)

Shinedown's pretty good.

I love the Plain White T's song Hey There Delilah...but don't know any others aside from their sound clips on iTunes.

Then there are tons of random ones like 30 Seconds to Mars, Motion City Soundtrack, Taking Back Sunday, Sandi Thom, Ben Lee, and KT Tunstall.

That's about all I can think of right now that others haven't listed already.

You can find recommendations on http://www.last.fm too.

Muse. Get Muse.

good songs are Hysteria, Exo-Politics, Supermassive Black Hole, Overdue, Nature_1, Time is Running Out, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Stokhome Syndrome, Citizen Erased

Hm. I liked Muse's older stuff much better than their new stuff (new CD out just last month, it's okay), but yes, Muse does rock.

Other than them, Jimmy Eat World, Hello Tokyo, WEEZER (yay for the =W=), Ok Go, and maybe Gym Class Heroes (they've got quite an interesting sound, like R & B beats mixed with rock guitar). Shout for Keane if you're into piano rock. ;)

Cold in general, but specifically 'Happens All The Time'. Awesome song. I found it when I bought my Xbox 360. (comes with it on the hard drive) It's an awesome song.

Trapt is a pretty good band (their 1st CD was OK, but their 2nd was ownage) Some songs to recommend: Headstrong, Victim, Disconnected, Product Of My Own Design, Waiting, Stand Up.

Evanescence...(I won't bother recommend songs since you probably have a ton from them anyway)

Disturbed is a Love/Hate band. So you might love it after your 2/3rd listen, or you might hate them. Anyway, some songs for download: Down With The Sickness, Prayer, Stricken, Guarded, Hell, Remember, Deify (especially this one if you hate Bush)

Linkin Park...(you also have a ton from them, I bet)

Pearl Jam: a nice group. Too many songs to put. lol

Korn: If you havn't heard of them, I'll stab you now. Easily their best album was their 1st. Gotta love Faget :p

Metallica: If you haven't heard of them, then you either were locked up in a cage when you were young, or something. As long as it came before 1992, you'll be fine.

Nickelback: (you gotta have SOME tracks of them on your ipod)

3 Doors Down: Kryptonite, This Time (a AWESoME hidden track on their 2nd CD) Those ae their best songs easily.

Arthemis: Actually, I found them on download.com. They are pretty good. The only song I know made by them is Thunder Wrath. It's a pretty good song. Very Avenged Sevenfoldish. Speaking of them...

Avenged Sevenfold: Awesome band. their best songs are their older ones.

Maroon 5: WAYyy overplayed on the radio, but a great band. Songs to download (if you haven't) Harder To Breathe, This Love, Secret

Staind: Pretty good band. The one thing: They should be a REAL emo band. (i.e: very depressing) They don't have 1 happy kind of song! Still a pretty good band.

Tht's all I can think of for now.

I forgot Alter Bridge and Creed. Stupid me :( Awesome bands. (for those who watch WWE, Edge's theme song is an edited verson of alter Bridge-Metallingus)

Avenged Sevenfold kind of confuses me.

I mean...they look all metal and stuff...but songs like Bat Country don't sound the way I'd think they would based on their appearances. I guess you could call the guitar speed metal...but I dunno.

Good band, though.

The Format, Pollen and Salt by Daphne Loves Derby, Thunder by Boys Like Girls, Hellogoodbye, ditto-ing Snow Patrol and OAR, Mae, Daughter in the House of Fools by Enon, Swing Life Away by Rise Against, So Contagious by Acceptance, Lady Sovereign :), Digable Planets, and the new Dashboard Confessional album. Yay.

The Clash, Tool, Incubus, Ramones, Sound Garden

"Muse. Get Muse.

good songs are Hysteria, Exo-Politics, Supermassive Black Hole, Overdue, Nature_1, Time is Running Out, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Stokhome Syndrome, Citizen Erased"

Going to see Muse LIVE tomorrow at NYC! :)
