Recommendation Advice

Hello good people of the NU board.

For my teacher recommendation, I was planning on having my cross country coach write me my recommendation. However, after visiting the campus yesterday and listening to the admissions presentation, the speaker seemed to emphasize choosing a teacher that knows you best as a student. My coach definitely knows me best out of any of the teachers at my school, but this year is the first year he's had me as a teacher.

Do you think I should still choose him, or choose my former pre calc and current calc teacher, who doesn't know me quite as well? Also, consider that my essay is about running, which also makes me think choosing the coach would be a better option.

Why not use both?

First of all, you might have been one of those noisy groups that woke me up :stuck_out_tongue: Just kidding, tour groups are numerous right now though.

IN all seriousness, I sent more than one to NU, one being academic (teacher I had for two years in a tough class) and one being less academic, but very strong (Newspaper teacher I had for 3 years who as a class we’d gone on numerous field trips with). I would send both, because you need one that actually knows your academic work well.
