I have a teacher I'm still really close to but I only had her fresh/soph years. She teaches the subject I'm planning on majoring in (Spanish) and I still visit her almost every day during my open hour. I know she'll say great things about me as a person and a student. But is it bad to have a recommendation from a freshman/sophomore year teacher?

Buuuump...

I think it is good to have a rec from the teacher who has the best grasp of who you are, and what you have to offer.

I think you can express your concerns to the teacher, and suggest that she include, in her letter, the fact that she knows you from fresh/soph year but you have continued the teacher/student relationship etc etc etc.

What does your guidance counselor say about this?

I don't think it's bad if you have one or two junior years give recs. They want to see you as a student more currently, although the F/S teacher might have a better idea (knowing you for two years and you still visit).

Yeah, I'd include it, but get 2 recs from Junior teachers too.
