<p>Is it a plus at all, if you submit a recommendation from someone "important" . I know some people who have teached to UCLA , NYU , Utoronto that are respectable proffessors in their field and will be glad to give me a recommendation.</p>

<p>The important person in the LOR is you, not the person writing it. So an average LOR, or one that shows little knowledge and experience with you from an ‘important’ person is not as good as a great LOR from an ‘unimportant’ person that knows you well.</p>
<p>Don’t bother. Per entomom, you need letters from people who know you well and can describe, preferably with memorable examples, what you have to offer the school.</p>
