recommendation letter: english, math, spanish?

From what my counselor told me, we better have one teacher from the english department and one from sci/math department for recommndation letter. foreign languages aren't core subjects according to some people...but spanish is my talent so..should i just tell my spanish teacher to write my recommendation letter? what would you suggest me to do?
thanks so much!

Well generally, it is one from science one from non science. English is common but I don't see why spanish might not be ok. Perhaps others know. Certainly it is better to get one from a strong booster than someone who simply says you did well.

Agree with hikids, I think that your GCs definition of who should write LORs is too inflexible. Even the science/non-science might not hold up for certain people. Most colleges consider FLs to be core subjects; if you check the websites for many selective colleges, they have recommendations/requirements for coursework in English, Math, Science, History and FL. I'd recommend in going with the teacher that can give you the strongest LOR.

You can always include your Spanish teacher as an optional 3rd rec (for schools that want two teacher recs). My third is from an art teacher...art is, apparently, NEVER a core subject, so...

Some schools specifically ask for a rec from an English teacher plus one from math or science. If none of yours do, a Spanish teacher and a math teacher would be fine...
