I am applying for Colorado State University for the Spring of 2013. It asks for at least 1 LOR and any others are optional. I was wondering if it was OK to send 1 or 2 more letters. I didn't have the best high school grades but I am doing great at my local community college. I was wondering if extra letters of rec would help my chances or hurt them. Any advice would be great. Thanks

ETA: Also would it help if I took the ACT also? I already took the SAT but if it would help my chances of getting in at all I will gladly take the ACT too.

I think it’ll only hurt if they’re letters along the lines of “fordcowgirl11 was in my class, and she came to class regularly,” where they don’t add anything in your favor. Go for it! :)

So your saying it wouldn’t hurt to send more than 1?? I’m a little confused on your answer lol.

IMO - Yes, send in more than 1 letter - as long as the people writing them are able to bring a different outlook as to why they are recommendingt you. For example, maybe one teacher can write about how you are outstanding in one area, and perhaps another can write about how you preformed in a different area. The usual 2 are a math-science type and an english/language/arty teacher, but your milage may vary.

What nugraddad said. I didn’t state very well that what I’d meant was to avoid letters that add nothing to your app. If they cast you in a good light, by all means, submit more than one!
