[Recommendation Letters] Does the common app allow my teachers/counselor to submit recommendation letters and other materials **past the university deadlines**?

Happy new year everyone! I’m an international applicant and I’m still unfamiliar with the application system in the US

I already completed my application to Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Amherst via common app. However, my teachers/guidance counselors will only be able to submit their recommendation letters and other materials (e.g., transcript) AFTER THE UNIVERSITY DEADLINES.

Given the situation, my questions are the following:

  1. Does the common app allow my teachers/counselor to submit recommendation letters and other materials past the university deadlines?

(The universities I applied to already said that they will accept all late materials submitted within the week after the deadline. However, I am worried if the common app would still allow them to submit. Because if not, my recommenders would have to look for other ways to submit them)

  1. Would the universities still be able to receive the late recommendations submitted VIA COMMON APP? Would they be able to still download it via common app?

Thank you.

If this screen name is your real name…please change it.

@CC_Jon how exactly do folks do this now?

Each school has different policies which should be on their websites. If your school uses Naviance or Scoir, the LoRs are typically uploaded thru there.

Do you know why the counselor and teacher LoRs are not ready on time? If there is a valid reason, your GC might reach out to the AOs (at the schools where these materials will be considered ‘late’).

Here’s what Yale says:

Recommendations from teachers and counselors

Please ask your teachers and counselors to submit the required forms by the postmark deadlines above whenever possible. The admissions office makes reasonable allowances for teachers and counselors who are unable to meet these deadlines.
