I took an online class through Brown University’s precollege last summer because it was too much money to actually go their campus, and I messaged and skyped with my teacher multiple times a week. My question is, should I use a recommendation letter from my online teacher, even though it was through an online class. I feel like I put a good foot forward in that class, but also it’s an online class. I’m just trying to balance the authority of the person writing the recommendation with the quality of the recommendation letter if that makes any sense.
And would it be better to go with the standard counselor and teacher recommendation, or is it better to reach out into the community. I have some connections with my county’s leaders like the mayor and then there’s by Brown teacher, but I don’t spend 10 hours with them each week like I do with my teachers and counselors
Are you allowed to submit more than one teacher recommendation? Most of my colleges I applied to freshmen year required one and would accept 1-2 additional letters. If they allow this, then I think it would be okay to ask your online teacher. They still saw your participation, academic strength, etc. in an online class. Just make sure you’re confident that the letter they write would showcase your qualities.
