My d is applying to two highly competitive scholarships (2 different schools). She is required to have 2 recommendations sent but 3 are allowed. She asked 3 people for recommendations - 2 teachers and one employer. The teachers submitted their recommendations well in advance. The employer has not. She has been in contact with the employer many times, politely reminding him of the deadlines. He told her he had submitted one and to keep reminding him of the other. The one he thought he had submitted, she discovered he had only uploaded when she called the scholarship office to inquire about it. So, he did actually write the recommendation; he just failed to actually submit it and to copy it and send it to the other. She told him about this problem and presumably he was going to get to it. The submitted one was due on Nov. 1st and the other one is due today. She sent him another reminder 2 days ago with no response. I believe he is currently out of town on business.

I'm trying not to panic over this, but I'm wondering how much this will hurt her chances at these scholarships. Again, this is a 3rd recommendation and only 2 are required. But will the committees see that she requested a 3rd which was never submitted? I don't know what else she can do to get him to actually submit the letters. He is extremely absent-minded. We don't think this is intentional, but repeated reminders seem to do no good.

Any thoughts??
