<p>When a teacher submits a recommendation, does the Common App website say (for example):

<p>My teacher emailed me saying that she submitted the letter, but the website still says "Started" is that how it always looks? I just wanted to check!</p>
<p>Yes. It should have the status updated after your teacher uploaded the letter. Some may have trouble in uploading and still stuck in the “Started” state.</p>
<p>If your school uses Naviance the submission process may be delayed this year. There are big problems with the coordination of common app and Naviance. </p>
<p>On the other hand, if your teacher submitted directly to common app and the status still shows as started two business days afterwards, that indicates something amiss. The status should be changed to submitted within that time.</p>
