I attend a high school in India and my Principal has never filled out a college recommendation form before. He wanted to know if he is supposed to handwrite the answers to the questions or fill it with a typewriter. What is the normal practice? I was kind of worried that if he writes it by hand, his answers won't be legible. But on the other hand typewriters are very hard to come by. TIA

Handwriting is how it was done (for question- answers) by my teachers, they don't have typewriters in US, either. So, your Principal can handwrite. Why do you think it won't be legible? You worry too much, man!

The main written recommendation letter (not the question-answer part) is usually printed once and then multiple copies are made to attach to the form.

they h ave typwriters in the US.
i own one myself.

I meant they are not very common, mostly people use word processors and printers.

On some applications, in addition to recommendation letters, there are questions which have to be answered in the form of paragraphs. I was referring to those questions.

Another question- if the teacher is submitting a separate recommendation letter, does he still have to answer the separate questions like on Stanford's app?
