Recommendations - applying to Columbia SEAS

If I apply to Columbia SEAS, is it mandatory to have one recommendation from a science/math teacher? The teachers that I know the best and who knows me the best are in my liberal arts courses - English, History, etc. The science/math teachers I have had like me, but they don't really get to know the student well. I don't think I would get a bad recommendation from them, but I don't think it would those would be stellar. Also, if I apply ED, can I get a recommendation from a Senior teacher? One of my science Senior teachers I had as a Freshman and he would probably give me a good recommendation, but of course I had him in Freshman year and then would only have had him for a month in my Senior year before I ask for a recommendation. Just wondering what your thoughts are about recommendation and which teachers would be the best to get a recommendation from.
