Hi! This may sound like a stupid question, but I just realized that you need four different types of recommenders for the recommendations letters for the application. All this time I thought you could just have four random ones, hehe. >__> Anyway, my question is if a parent can serve as the personal recommender. I know that typically parents aren't used for recommendation letters, but in this case it's not really specified that it's exclusive to teachers only, and with the whole "personal" part, a parent was the first person I thought of.

Any answers and feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Hi imazingg,

Since I’m the homeschool parent, I submitted the counselor letter of recommendation. I would go ahead and ask the contact at McDermott.

My son’s recs were: me, AP Lit teacher, Physics Prof at univ., music/personal rec.

I’m not a homeschooled student, so I didn’t know if a parent-letter recommendation letter would be accepted or not. It’s alright though, I already decided to use one of my old high school teachers to be my personal recommender. Thanks anyway!

didnt see this sooner. but good that you didnt use a parent. pm me if you have any more ques about mcdermott
