Recommendations for transfer admissions question

Hi,

Currently, I am planning to transfer colleges. For some of the schools I’m applying to, they only require one recommendation but for other schools (the more competitive ones), they require two recommendations. I currently go to a school in which class sizes are pretty huge, for some of the classes I’m taking, so there is essentially minimal connection between students and the professor. Fortunately, I have one professor who knows me well, but I’m trying to decide on which other professor I will ask for my second rec.

My question is : When recommenders send recommendation letters to colleges via the common application, could the applicant select which specific colleges a recommendation letter is sent to, or is a recommendation letter simply sent to ALL the colleges an applicant applies to?

Using Cornell (1 rec only) and Harvard (req. 2 recs) for example;
-teacher x: I know very well
-teacher y-don’t know very well

so obviously for Harvard, I need to send both recs, but for Cornell could I choose to just send the recommendation for teacher x?

Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can select which recommendation goes to which college on the Common App. Under “recommendations” you select from your list of recommendations which you want to send (and how many).
