Am impressed by the no. of passionate music parents/students on this list. Am looking towards next summer and ideas for DD20, a music (voice) major at UCSC. Last couple of summer she worked and gained some experience (and a little $) working at a children's camp. Am looking for ideas for a summer internship somewhere related to music/sound next summer.<br>

<p>Cabrillo Music Festival in Santa Cruz has a staff of student interns. It would only be for a few weeks but would be very exciting, if she likes New Music. Music @Menlo also has a student internship program - for arts administration, I believe. It is a competitive internship opportunity. There are also music camps like Cazadero who hire counselors. One in the Santa Cruz Mountains, too - but I forget the name. Laney Summer Music in Oakland also hires counselors and has a two week singing program. These are just Bay Area ideas - I’m sure she could branch out and find similar opportunities across the country.</p>
<p>The other way to go is for her to just approach the organization which interests her and offer her services. The trick would be living expenses…but perhaps UCSC has some grant money for internships between Junior and Senior year?</p>
