Hello,

I’m currently a sophomore. I live in Texas, and I attend a competitive public school. I am an Asian female. I would like to major in Business and I’m wondering what colleges are suited for me.

GPA:
3.78 unweighted (4.2 weighted)
Class rank: 43/579
This is all based on my freshman year. Since I switched schools and my old school had a different grading system, they put a B+ (regular) for my Alg1 grade. So my GPA and rank should go up.
ECs:
Key Club, French Honors Society, Outside Club, Green Club
For next year (already certain): Treasurer of Outside Club, Monitor of Green Club, Publisher of FHS
I also plan to join National Honor Society and maybe National English Honor Society.
For senior year I may also join Junior Achievement and DECA.

APs:
ALREADY took-
AP Chinese (took exam only- without course)
AP World History
AP Physics
WILL take (junior&senior year)
AP Human Geography
AP Psychology
AP English Language and Composition
AP Chemistry
AP Biology
AP French
AP Environmental Science
AP US History
AP United States Government and Politics
AP Economics
AP Macroeconomics (maybe)
AP Calculus BC
AP Computer Science

Other:
PSAT 1310 (beginning of sophomore year with no practice)
I’m going to a NSLC business summer camp this summer and may intern in France next summer. Also, if it helps, my father is in the business industry.

Any suggestions for suitable business colleges?

First, don’t feel that you need to take all those AP’s - at a certain point (7-10 IMO), it’s no longer a positive thing for some places. Over 6 AP’s per year is going to be a lot.

If you continue in the direction you’re going, you’ll have lots of good options - consider narrowing your search with some requirements that you’d really like. You’ll need your ACT/SAT back to be sure, but if your PSAT score is similar, you should be good.

There’s a lot of great options in Texas that should be affordable and offer great business schools. Probably a safety or two there.

Here’s one way to try to maximize the impact of your ap courses: some colleges are more generous than others with AP credits, and if u pick one of them, u could graduate in 2 or 2.5. years.

Only problem with that is business.majors tend to have to take a bunch of business courses plus a bunch of courses in their particular specialty (accounting or whatever). So even if u.got a ton of AP credits, you’d still have to take all those busines classes. You’d probably end up with way more credits than you’d ordinarily need to graduate with a non-business degree.

So, major in economics or math or English or philosophy…something which will give you strong skills in thinking, writing, math, whatever), graduate in 2 years, and use the leftover money to pay for an MBA. A school like Alabama gives out nice aid for good test scores and a 3.5 GPA, AND you get the aid for 4 years, even if u.graduate in.2.

Thank you all! I still would like to stick with a business major and I don’t prefer any specific things - as long as the region has easy transportation.
