  1. could my personal recommendation be from a past teacher? I don’t have a person outside of my school that could give me a rec (other than family friends) and im applying through SAO which makes the personal recommendation mandatory
  2. i’m quiet in my english class but am working on participating more will this negatively affect my application?

Can I tag on here to ask where is the personal recommendation on SAO? I see reference to it in the FAQ, but I don’t actually see it. I see the math/English/counselor recommendations and the transcript, but not the personal recommendation.

Does it only show up if your schools require it?

The logistics of the application process are really confusing me and I am usually good with logistics.

@mairlodi none of my schools require it but it still shows up under the “apply to schools” section. it should be in between the counselor recommendation and the transcript release form. good luck!

  1. We used a past teacher. Worked well.
  2. A little quiet is probably fine, but you should be a participant. The schools are building communities, and my impression is that they're looking for kids who contribute, as opposed to merely absorb. Students learn a fair amount from one another.
