Please do not send 5 recommendations, unless they are all going to be very very different. If it's the same thing repeated over and over again, they're gonna be like oh god... but I only sent a supplemental rec along with two teacher recs because she is my piano teacher, who knows me as a person really well. She commented on my "exceptional inner resources" and whatnot haha.

well thing is like my school is very very very very small and every teacher knows me so well- so i requested recommendations to each one.. hope this is not going to be bad..

Just b/c u requested them doesnt mean u have to send them...unless the teachers are planning on sending it on their own (in that case, it would be rude to ask one teacher over the other)

haha 5 anymore than two is unecessary I mean Penn doesn't wanna hear how wonderful a student you are from five teaches when one or two could do the same just as nicely

but i called admission office.. they said i can send as many as i want- but.. apparently wasnt a good idea according to u guys.. im so worried sidf;askjfha;ksjdfhsa;kjf

i dont want to make you nervous, but i think 5 is ridiculous and that it may hurt you more than help (even if all 5 are praise-worthy) .... why couldnt you just pick your two best teachers? its not that hard.............

well the reason we say no is because it is highly unlikely that five different people will write about five completely different qualities you have. Most of ur recs will sound the same but just an opinion.

lol. is four ok? I have two from my teachers, one from my counselor (secondary report) and my principal saw that i got deferred, and he was like "ill write you one," and I didn't even ask him for one...

I think you will be fine KrnACxHunta, but the OP must have been crazy. I mean reading the same thing over and over again is not really fun and the adcom has like 10, 000 other apps to look at

to be honest, I sent four teacher recs in addition to my GC rec and I got in. To a dual degree program. So it's not a bad thing, and if you think they show a side of you that another wouldn't, send them all. The worst that could happen is that they don't read all of them.
