Recommendations?

Quick question about recommendations.

1:How beneficial are said recommendations, meaning how much does it really affect your app
2:How much (if any) is a recommendation worth if its from an alum, who is a reputable person in the business world?(if applying to wharton)
3:Would it benefit or harm the reco if its from a family member not a legacy(im assuming legacy has to be immediate family.) (hes a cousin)

Any insight would be appreciated

Thanks

bump

anyone with any thoughts??

i have had a number of extended family members graduate upenn and i was told it doesnt help because they arent parents/ siblings... i would also immagine any reccomendation from a family member wouldnt hold much weight since their view is obviously tanted unless they've donated a building or something.

recs helped me a lot. good ones are really helpful

2.an alumni rec might help seeing how they like legacies and people with connections to the school

don't get a rec from a family member everyone knows they will write wat you want them to write

My guess is that an alumni rec helps only if it relates to something significant/meaningful that you have done under his or her oversight.

thing is, while being related its non immediate, different last name as well, but he is an alum of wharton, so while i can prob get a reco frolm him as any aspect(i.e worked for, normal reference, etc) it wouldnt be seen as a family rec.. i think
