Recommendations

What happens if I have outstanding letters of recommendations from my teachers - along the lines of "best I have ever seen" and "amazing personality", but the essay from my tutor (we don't have counselors at our school) is average or slightly above average. Everything else in my application is definitely above average..

Basically, if my counselor recommendation acknowledges my intellectual ability, but doesn't acknowledge my ECs or my personality (firstly because she is young and inexperienced, secondly because I don't really show my personality in front of her), how bad will it be for me?

Bump, anyone?

The best thing your counselor can do is acknowledge that she doesn’t know you well enough to make a personal statement. But I imagine she’s heard enough about you from teachers to comment on your academic prowess and put you in the context of your class, which is really her only responsibility.
