I need one rec from a current teacher. I've narrowed it down to two and I don't know which one to pick:

Honors French
-always had A's in French
-Vice President of World Language Honor Society
-um...just generally really good at French. It's my best subject.
However, so far this year I haven't really formed any type of relationship with my teacher. I'm not sure how good a rec he can write me.

Academic Chemistry
-currently have a B, working on bringing it up to an A
-known teacher since last year, formed somewhat of a relationship
-the truth is, I've never, ever been a good science student, ESPECIALLY with Chem. I took Academic instead of Honors level this year because I knew I wasn't good at Chemistry. Ever since freshman year, when we had Chemistry units in class I just didn't understand. I was dreading this year, when I would have to take a full year of Chemistry. But I came into this year with a positive mentality. I pretty much said to myself "bring it on, Chemistry!"

And I'm actually doing really well. I never thought I'd say this but not only do I understand Chemistry, I actually enjoy it. It's interesting. Yeah, a B isn't an A but it's better than I could have expected. And my teacher knows how much I've struggled in the past. So I was thinking maybe he could write me a good rec.

So, opinions?

I’d go with the French teacher as between these two.

I’d go with your French teacher, too. But you don’t usually have to ask a teacher that you have right now. If there you had a better relationship with a different French teacher last year, that would be ideal.

I do actually have a much better relationship with my french teacher from last year. But I’d still need a recommendation from a current teacher, so if I chose her I’d have to go with Chem for this year.

Well, so long as you’re a good student in Chem this year that shouldn’t be a problem.

This doesn’t make sense: do you require two or one letter? It seems to me that the French teacher is the obvious choice. I don’t know of any college that requirs a senior-year teacher for recs. In fact, I think the AdComs would prefer a teacher you’ve had in academic subjects for at least a full year.
