Recommended Mags for pre-meds to read

Are there any magazines that some of you can recommend to an undergrad interested in medical school? I want to read about medicine so that I can build up my knowledge/background in medical related aspects when I apply to med school.

I'm not very knowledgeable about medicine as of right now, so I don't want to start with a boring, formal, sophisticated science journal directed at distinguished science communities. Simply put, I just want a mag that can keep me informed on medical topics, such as: New medical/scientific breakthroughs, research, and discussions about HMO's, etc.

I was recommended to subscribe to the New England Journal of Medicine, are there any others that any of you could recommend? Thanks!

Well, a lot of it depends on how much medical/scientific knowledge you have already. NEJM may be a bit too much for a beginner, but Nature and Scientific American are 2 good magazines that i'd recommend for starters. The articles are interesting/challenging enough for a beginner, but not so enough that you'll be lost (usually).
